I’m Sick of this Refrigerator!

Appliances are known in the waste and recycling industry as white goods.

The term “whitegoods” was actually started by Sears and Roebuck in their early catalogs and referred to household appliances that had a white porcelain enamel exterior. Appliances include but are not limited to refrigerators, ranges, ovens, water heaters, freezers, air conditioner units, washing machines, clothes dryers, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, etc.

Thankfully, appliances have been banned from being discarded in North Carolina landfills. Appliances are not difficult to recycle but they do require energy and resources to aid in their recycling. Special measures also have to be taken in order to assure that refrigerants and other items that may pose environmental dangers are handled accordingly. Junk Rescue can pick up and recycle one refrigerator from your house or hundreds of refrigerators from your warehouse and anything in between. When it comes to rescuing junk, we’ll be there with a smile!

What Size Dumpster Should I Get?

We often have people ask us multiple questions about our dumpsters so we are going to start going over some of those questions here.

The question we get the most is… How do I know what size dumpster I need?

To accurately know how large of a dumpster you need, you need to try and calculate the number of cubic yards of stuff or material you are throwing out. For a general rule of thumb, a cubic yard is about the size of a standard oven or washing machine. So for example, a 10 yard dumpster should be able to hold 10 washing machines. If that does not work but you are familiar with a standard sized pickup truck bed, you can try to measure it based on the number of pickup truck beds your junk might fill up. See the below dumpster size comparisons to a standard pickup truck bed.

  • 10 yard = 4 pickup truck loads
  • 12 yard = 5 pickup truck loads
  • 15 yard = 6 pickup truck loads
  • 20 yard = 8 pickup truck loads
  • 30 yard = 12 pickup truck loads

If you still don’t know or you just want to talk it out, give us a call at 1-800-JUNK-911 and we’ll do our best to recommend the appropriately sized dumpster.
